Rubber magnet
Our rubber magnets are the same neodymium magnets you'll find on our site, except that they're encased in an anti-slip resin.
This resin offers the same texture and flexibility as rubber.
These magnets are slightly less powerful in terms of pulling force because of the thickness of the resin, but they are waterproof, shock-resistant and magnetise more effectively on vertical surfaces thanks to their non-slip coating.
Waterproof magnets
All the neodymium magnets you'll find on our site are protected by a layer of Nickel-Copper which protects them against corrosion. They can therefore be used outdoors.
In practice, we advise against using raw magnets for long periods outdoors, as this protective layer can crumble in the event of shocks, which happens regularly when 2 magnets are attracted to each other or when a magnet is attracted to a metal surface.
With these rubber magnets, there's no risk of rust: the waterproof resin is flexible enough not to crumble in the event of impacts, even violent ones. You can use these magnets outdoors, in a damp environment, or even underwater!
The non-slip coating, much more effective on vertical surfaces
The resin in rubber magnets is rough, which gives it anti-slip properties: rubber magnets are much harder to slide sideways than plain magnets.
The anti-slip properties give the magnets a much better grip on a vertical surface (a steel wall, for example), because downward slippage caused by the weight of the magnet is reduced.
This is why rubber magnets, and also screw-in anti-slip magnetic pads, have better magnetising capacities than raw neodymium magnets on vertical surfaces.
Note that rubber magnets are not the same as magnetic rubber
Magnetic rubber is the material from which magnets are made. It is a brown resin of the same colour and consistency as rubber, containing ferrite particles.
It is these ferrite particles, aligned every 2 or 3mm, that give magnetic rubber the ability to magnetise on metal surfaces.
We make all kinds of products from industrial magnetic rubber:
- Magnetic pouches
- Dry-erase labels
- Magnetic adhesive roll
- Printable magnetic paper
etc.
The rubber magnets you'll find in this category are made of Neodymium, Iron and Boron, coated with a protective resin.
Unlike magnets, these magnets are rigid and much more powerful.
